DOMINICAN REPUBLIC CANOE TOWARDS CENTRAL AMERICAN GAMES “BARRANQUILLA 2018”

The National Canotaje Team of the Dominican Republic leaves this Saturday for Cali-Colombia to participate in the Central American and Caribbean games “Barranquilla 2018”, which take place in this country with the participation of more than 5 thousand athletes.

The creole representation is composed of six athletes, two coaches and an official of the Dominican Federation of Rowing and Canoe, depart from the International Airport of the Americas this Saturday at 6h22 pm and will be competing with other nations in the Lake Calima, the site of the sport competitions of the games that bring together 37 countries of Central America and the Caribbean.

Cristian Guerrero García, Alexander Concepción, Juan Alberto Placencia, Rafael Félix, will be participating and representing the Dominican Republic in the kayak competitions for men 1,000, 500 and 200 meters, while in Canoe they will be competing in 1,000 meters Ariel Jiménez and in double Jiménez with Lonis Acevedo.

Andrés Osiris Tejeda, president of the Dominican Federation expects results that will have to obtain athletes which have sustained an adequate preparation.

Our athletes are also preparing to be present in the Pan American qualifying championship to be held in Nova Scotia, Canada of the Pan-American Games Lima-Peru 2019.

Julio César Méndez is the head coach, Luis Manuel Abreu assistant and the official delegate of Dominican Republic Federation and Arismendi Gómez who is the technical director of the entity.

Dominican Republic Federation has been carrying out extensive development work and massification of Rowing and Canoe in the Dominican Republic, including young male and female talents from the ages of 14 and up in different parts of the country, as well as the integration of Paralympic athletes taking as a reference the recommendations of the Pan American Canoe Confederation (COPAC) and the International Canoe Federation (ICF).

The Dominican national team is part of the group that endorses the Dominican Olympic Committee, under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports.
