The Canoe and Kayak Federation of Puerto Rico began its strategic plan for the 2013-2016 Olympic cycle with young athletes.
A delegation of junior athletes from the Canoe and Kayak Federation of Puerto Rico (FCKPR) will on Wednesday toured Canada and the United States. For seven competitors will be his first time in international waters and go in order to gain experience for their sports commitments within the Olympic cycle 2013 to 2016.
The first stop will be 10 youth, seven of them first-timers in international waters, along with experienced Paralympic athlete, Eddie Montanes will be Saturday at the Canada Day Regatta at the Rideau Canoe Club in Ottawa. Athletes measure their speed and agility with various clubs in Canada, USA, and teams from Australia and Mexico.
After they move to 2012 Lake Placid New York International Regatta to be held from 6 to 8 July. The event is distinguished by its tradition of bringing together the best competitors of the forms of boating (canoe and kayak) in North America and countries accepting the invitation.
“These events are very important to evaluate how we are and to make the necessary adjustments we’ll be done with a view to 2014. In particular see the performance of our athletes participating in an international event for the first time great world class teams like the U.S., Canada and Mexico, “said Victor Ruiz, president federation.
Ruiz and his team are focusing the work of sports programming for minimum FCKPR defend his bronze medal gained in the Central American Games and Caribbean Mayagüez 2010, at the headquarters of the regional games in 2014, Veracruz, Mexico.
The age range of the delegation is 14 to 19 years, except that it is paracanotaje Montanes 43 years. The youth teams to participate will be U16, U18 and Adult (Open).
The new members of the delegation are: Kevin Figueroa, Gustavo Cuevas, Kristopher Lugo, Juan Pablo Lopez, Sofia Rivera, Francheska Valdez and Melissa Reyes. With previous experience will be Samuel Figueroa, Anitza Villalobos, Maricarmen Rivera and Montanes. They join the delegation, trainer Joel Edgar Jaime Padro and Ramon Ponce as a delegate.
The FCKPR supported and endorsed by the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee. It also works with the population of Special Olympics athletes of Puerto Rico with a training and development in the park Jaime Benitez of the Condado Lagoon where activities are held every other Saturday and twice a week training with elite athletes .

2012 ICF Junior and U23 World Championships
Wausau, USA will host the first U23 World Championship in combination with the Junior event from July 11-15, 2012. Information regarding this event is available at http://www.2012wausau.com
The numerical entry deadline in May 30, 2012. Numerical entries should be submitted with the attached form to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominal entries must be completed in the new ICF database system.
NF’s qualified for London 2012 following the European Championships
Following the global qualification in Bratislava last year successful continental qualification events have been run in Asia (Miyi, CHN), Oceania (Penrith, AUS), Africa (Bethlehem, RSA), Pan America (Foz do Iguassu, BRA) with the final championship being held in Europe (Augsburg, GER).

Federations are currently confirming their acceptance of these nominations. This process should be complete by mid June when the final list of competing Federations will be available.

Updated Equipment Register
The ICF Equipment Register was recently updated with the addition of a PEAK Buoyancy Jacket. Athletes are required to compete in equipment listed on this register. IJCSL Officials Training
Successful IJCSL Officials assessments were held at the Asian, Oceania, and European Olympic Qualification Events with 20 newly qualified Officials from seven Federations.
Congratulations to these people, we look forward to seeing them judging at Continental Championships and World Cups in the near future!
If anyone still wishes to qualify, the next IJCSL programs will be run at:
- The World Cup in Pau, FRA June 15-17
- The 2012 Junior and U23 World Championships in Wausau, USA July 11-15
A ICF IJCSL (level 2) program will also be run in conjunction with the Pau World Cup. This program, run annually, is aimed at officials who already have international experience and is usually by invitation only. Invitations are sent to people already nominated to Judge at any of the 2012 World Cups.
IOC Executive Board meeting comes to a close in Quebec
For the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, the IOC decided to accept six new events to generate team atmosphere, promote gender equality and balance sprint and endurance events. Read the full article here.
